Mazzolino

Mazzolino Winery is in the heart of the Oltrepò Pavese. It is in this part of the Po River Valley that in the 1980’s Enrico Braggiotti, has found the perfect place to bring his family together and to realize his desire to produce the nest possible wines. His four children and 12 grandchildren settled down in the five houses that make up Corvino San Quirco, a nineteen-century village surrounded by vineyards. Enrico daughter Sandra realized her father dream of making a great wine.

She set about redeveloping the winery and almost completely replanted the vineyards to reach the current 22 hectares. At the same time, the new thousand-square-meter cellar designed by the architect Lorenzo Berni was built alongside the original winery, skillfully combining old and new building.

Mazzolino’s 22 hectares are the cradle of a culture that fully exploits the character of the area, (once part of old Piedmont) bringing back its strong link with France that is deep-rooted both in the land and the Braggiotti family.

Kyriakos Kynigopoulos, internationally renowned winemaker and great expert on Pinot Noir, was called directly from Burgundy to Corvino San Quirico to match his talent with a land clearly full of potential.

Under the direction of the great enologist, together with Jean- François Coquard, a graduate from Burgundy university, a great Pinot Noir and a Chardonnay Blanc of the highest level were created.

Almost thirty years have passed since that historic meeting and under Jean-François Coquard’s guidance; the Noir has earned a place in the most rened cellars and wine shops in the world, awards at international competitions, and mentions in the most authoritative guides.
