“Could be one of the best Sapaios in years thanks in part to a beautiful ripe fruit and acid balance. Fantastic intensity here. Love the depth and richness of blackcurrant and dark-chocolate character showing now.”
Range:95-96

“This wine was previously part of the Bolgheri Superiore appellation but is classified as an IGT Toscana wine in this vintage. The 2015 Sapaio represents a blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Petit Verdot and 10% Cabernet Franc that ages in French oak for 16 months. The wine is dark and luscious with a thick and rich quality of dark fruit. Purple plum, blackberry and cherry emerge with fragrant intensity. The wine boats a beautiful texture that is soft and powerful at once. Give it a year or two to rest and relax in the bottle. The personality is still nervous and vinous at this young stage in its life.”
Rating: 93+

“Much of the fruit used here comes from vineyards in Bibbona (not Bolgheri). The 2015 Sapaio is a little understated compared to the 2016 edition of this blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. This expression offers dark fruit and rich texture. The approach offered here shows lots of density paired with slightly more measured depth.”
