2010

Wine Searcher: Overall, the 2010 vintage is a year for great reds from France, Italy.

Piedmont:
WS: Hold – A cool growing season and ideal weather before harvest; pure, elegant and structured reds, with fine potential for aging.
JR: Overall result is considered outstanding: a classic vintage with plenty of acidity, firm but ripe tannins and near-perfect balance in many wines.

Tuscany/Chianti:
WS: Drink or Hold – The best are fine, ripe wines, showing freshness, structure and balance, yet some lack ripe tannins.
JR: Montalcino was drier than other parts of Tuscany and the long and slow ripening of the grapes resulted in what is considered an outstanding vintage with true ageing potential for years to come.
